Smyrna Wood Flooring is a wood flooring company based in Smyrna, GA, with more than 20 years spent sanding, repairing and installing hardwood floors. Our work ranges from oak strip found under carpet in older ranch homes to engineered floors in newer townhomes and condos, and most of it starts with a floor that looks wrong rather than a job title.

We built our approach around one idea: understand the floor before quoting it. A floor that has cupped, gone gray in the traffic lanes, or taken on water can usually be saved, but only if someone takes the time to find out why it looks the way it does.

Our Approach

Every job begins with measurement rather than a guess. We read cupped floors with a moisture meter and find the source before anyone sands them flat, and we check how much wood remains above the tongue on 1980s site-finished oak before recommending a refinish over a tear-out. On older homes, we check the build year and any painted surfaces before sanding a house built before 1978, and we test old shellac or wax so the new finish bonds.

We treat each floor as the wood it is. Heart pine and old oak in intown bungalows get refinished to keep their patina, with patched boards matched to the old color. Oak strip found under carpet gets its tack-strip holes and staple rows filled instead of hidden under a dark stain. Boards damaged by subterranean termites are cut out and replaced after treatment, never filled or covered.

We also plan around the rules that shape each home. Townhome work starts with the association’s written approval, since interior flooring rules come from your own declaration. High-rise condo installs are scheduled around freight elevator bookings, quiet hours and the underlayment the building requires. After a leak, we trace, dry and measure before replacing any board, and we document the readings room by room for your adjuster.

When it comes to color, you choose from stain samples laid on your own floor in your own light. On stairs, we quote tread by tread, pricing refinishing and new treads as the separate jobs they are, so you can see exactly where the money goes.
